Webinar Overview

In this webinar, Laura Roeder discusses her three-part system for “Creating Fame”, becoming known as the go-to person in your industry. Being well known switches your marketing from “push” to “pull”. You’ll learn how to get out of the feast or famine cycle of business and build a rock-sold reputation that will have clients and big opportunities approaching you.

In this webinar, Laura talks about:

  • How fame relates to money, and if you need to be famous to make your business succeed
  • How to avoid getting stuck in the “quicksand” of only being known in one very small circle
  • Why positioning yourself as an unapproachable guru can completely backfire
  • Why online media can be a more powerful fame-maker than traditional media
  • The most effective and simplest ways to get your name out there
  • The viral part of your business that is invisible to new prospects

  • Denisladbrook
How does facebook compare with google in terms of youth coverage?
  • Hi Trevor,
What strategy would you recommend to people just getting started with Social Media - e.g. just a couple of sites (if so, which ones) or a wider coverage?
My instinct is fewer sites, building better relationships (time is precious) but I'd like to hear others thoughts & opinions.
    thanks
    Tracey
  • Hey Tracey,

I would always recommend securing your name across multiple platforms, but as for which ones you should engage in, that is really dependent on identifying where your target audience is, listening to conversations and knowing where your time will be best served. So, yes, fewer sites is better as you'll be able to focus your efforts and put in the time required to build relationships.

Another resources you might want to check out is my Social Media Interview series (http://www.socialconnectblueprint.com/tag/social-media-interview/). One of the questions I ask every guest is "What advice would you give to those just starting out in social media". There is a wide range of responses and, as you mentioned, it's always nice to hear others thoughts & opinions! :)
  • For the webinar July 20: In general, if you had to rank social media tools on a list of "must-use" for nonprofits, what would be your top 3-5?
  • The questions seem to be never ending, even when you think you've caught up! I'm hooked on foursquare right now along with other location based services, how are small businesses using these tools to drive business through their doors?
  • Hey Nick,

Thanks for the question. I hear ya.....the list of questions does seem never ending :). As for Foursquare, I think we have yet to see all the benefits small businesses can receive from using Foursquare. I know here in Vancouver, many coffee shops and restaurants don't even know what I'm talking about when I ask if they have a Foursquare promotion.

However, that being said, the ones that do are really grabbing my attention. And, in doing so, have converted me into a regular customer. Blenz Coffee is one of them...check out their social promotions: http://blenzcommunity.com/?page_id=46

Of course, Mashable is always a great resource for social media information. Check out the articles on this page: http://mashable.com/?s=foursquare
  • Trevor,
I signed up for a membership on June 30... 7 days ago and I still don't have a user name and password because the link you sent me just takes you back to the sign up page. I sent several emails but haven't heard from you since July 1st. What's going on up there?

    Coach Freddie... Freddie Cecchini
  • Hi Freddie,

Sorry for the confusion. I resent you the link.

Let me know that it worked. I'd like to help get you rolling!

    Trevor

  • A lot of business that are looking at getting started in Social Media want to know what the ROI of their social media efforts are. How does Panchero's measure ROI in social media?
  • Macy Koch
How did you choose which social media sites to utilize for Pancheros? If a business is just starting to join the social network scene, do you suggest they get on many sites and work on branding themselves on multiple accounts? Or start slowly with one site and grow into more?
  • Buzz word: Transparency. How transparent are you as a brand? How do you or where do you draw the line on what should/shouldn't be shared via the social space.
  • Cynthia Bunten
What's really the best way to gain followers while still trying to stay focused on what your business is all about?
  • Heather Jaremko
    Hello,
I have a reunion planning and genealogy business. I would like to know what social media would be best for my business.
  • What's the best way to handle upset customers who are venting via social media?
  • Hey Trevor... I like Burritos!
    1. What would you say is the top 3 social media sites?
    2. How many social sites should you join?
    3. How often should you post or participate?
    4. Should you use forums?
    5. How important is a blog?
I'm looking forward to the Burrito Webinar... and the whole enchilada!
